Editor’s Column

As we settle into the heart of the 2026 winter season, I am writing to share some significant news regarding our community communications. This Winter 2026 edition will be the final installment of the Loon Lines newsletter.

For years, this newsletter has served as a bridge between neighbors, but as our community evolves, so must the way we stay connected. With the successful new funding structure for our annual fireworks display (see Mike’s article), the advertising revenue that previously sustained the printing and distribution of Loon Lines is no longer a necessity. This allows us to streamline our efforts and focus on more immediate, dynamic ways of sharing lake news.

Where to Stay Informed

While the physical newsletter is retiring, our commitment to keeping you informed is stronger than ever. Moving forward, please look to these digital platforms for all lake updates, water quality reports, and event announcements:

  • The Official Website: Visit halfmoonlake.net for the most comprehensive information and archives.

  • Email Updates: This will become our primary tool for urgent news and seasonal updates. If you haven’t shared your email address with us yet, please go to halfmoonlake.net and enter it in the signup section on the homepage.

  • Social Media: Follow our brand-new Instagram account, @halfmoonlakewi, which is also showcased directly on the website. It’s the perfect place to see the latest views of the lake.

It has been a privilege serving as your editor and documenting the seasons of life here on the lake. While I'll miss putting these pages together, I am excited to see our community engage more frequently through our digital channels.

Thank you for your years of readership and support. Stay warm this winter, and I look forward to seeing everyone back on the water this summer!

Take care,
